Norman D. Stamp Acquatic Center, Harlan, IowaProgressive local churches and the Parks and Recreation Board oversee multifaceted recreational programs featuring volleyball, softball, basketball, soccer, flag football, swimming and baseball.

The Norman Stamp Aquatic Center is the jewel of the over 70 acres of Harlan Parks. We have Leinen Park and the newest is the Dr. Joseph Spearing Park (which has a pond).  Pioneer Park has a pond, walking/jogging trail and the handicap accessible Dream Playground.  Frisbee Golf is a new addition to Pioneer Park.

Also available are six baseball/softball diamonds, fishing, ice skating, two 9-hole golf courses (1 public and 1 private), eight tennis courts and a bowling alley.

The Petersen Family Wellness Center offers a variety of aerobic exercise opportunities. 

There are over 1,700 acres of additional park land in the county, including two nature wildlife areas, over 400 acres of public hunting and the 661-acre Prairie Rose Lake State Park.
