Street Department

The Street Department has six employees and is responsible for all street maintenance including street sweeping, street patching, traffic signs, paint striping and markings, equipment maintenance and repair, Police and Street vehicles, in addition to snow and ice removal.
Park and Recreation, Sewer Department, and Harlan Municipal Utilities employees help the Street Department employees during snow and ice removal operations.
This department handles all calls concerning potholes, broken curbs, streets that need sweeping of dirt and/or debris, rough alleys that need graded, and barricades that need to be set up for parades, etc, as well as cleaning up glass on the street after accidents. All calls concerning slick streets and snow and ice removal are handles at this location.
