The Street Department has six employees and is responsible for all street maintenance including, but not limited to, street sweeping,
street patching, paint striping and markings, traffic signs, equipment maintenance and repair, and snow and ice removal.
Our City Streets
Park and Recreation, Sewer Department, and Harlan Municipal Utilities employees help the Street Department
during snow and ice removal operations. This department handles all calls concerning potholes, broken curbs,
streets that need sweeping of dirt and/or debris, rough alleys that need graded, barricades that need to be set
up for parades, etc., as well as cleaning up glass on the street after accidents.
This department also handles the removal of all dead trees in the Right of Ways around the City of Harlan.
All calls concerning slick streets and snow and ice removal are handled at this location.
